Hm. If we use 476, that's 1536 years ago: Silverberg's first sale was in 1954, 58 years ago. It's 1/26 and a bit to be precise for Silverberg (1/26.48): Jack Williamson's career (1928-2005) of 77 years would be just about 1/20. (Or about 4/5 of the distance seperating us from the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand).

I guess "The World Inside" was more influential than I realized.
