I once heard a glorious three-syllable pronunciation of troll: Tuh-RO-wuhl!

I was always pleased with the notion (since confirmed) that "troll" was the source of the word totoro. It's one of the reasons that the Mom is shown reading the girls a copy of the Billy Goats Gruff in the credit scenes at the end of the movie.

Might as well go for four; Tuh-Ro-wuh-luh.
