Volume Two came out the same year as Eclipse Two: New Science Fiction and Fantasy, whose sex ratio (13 males, 2 females) attracted some commentary. Eclipse Three: New Science Fiction and Fantasy had 6 men and 10 women and I wonder if perhaps if one squints one cannot see the m/f balance in his Best Science Fiction and Fantasy of the Year changing just a tad at about the same time.

I'm also a bit puzzled by the 0.5 entries.

Cowrite, get half a credit. If it's a man and a woman, that's 0.5 to the men and 0.5 to the women.

Not resolvable into a simple binary choice.

Not sure when they came out but certainly the local (to him and me if we are talking the same Strahan) scene has not been quiet of late about gender balance. We've got a fair amount of local strong female writers and publishers that are difficult to ignore as examples.
