Something that I didn't know until yesterday
What's the connection between Arlo Guthrie and Norman Rockwell?

I had to look at that caption a few times before I stopped wondering what made it a runaway painting.

And what's with the bundle at the end of the stick? We tried that a few times when we were kids, and it didn't seem to work very well. Is it just a ornamental icon?

A friend gave me a print of that painting when I moved away. And isn't that the painting set in Joe's Diner in Lee, MA? That place is such a delight. You can get fried bologna, among other culinary delights.

Yup. They both lived in the Stockbridge/Lee area. And, as the song says, there weren't that many police officers around. If you wanted to paint one, or if one was going to pick you up, chances were good that he was the one to do it.

I did not know that -- thanks for passing on the link. Not too many people out there who can put "Police Chief/Artistic Inspiration" on their business card.
