Damn it! As a feminist, I spend so much time explaining to people that it's not true that feminists believe that all heterosexual sex is rape... and then someone like this comes along and undoes all my efforts. Because whose version is going to stick in people's mind as the representative "feminist" point of view? The reasonable one, or the OMG-link-all-your-friends-to-this-craziness one?

The reasonable one, if the people judging are also reasonable. As someone points out above, 'Even the lunatic fringe are going "WTF?" ' We can almost all of us see that this woman's a few fries short of a Happy Meal, don't worry. :)

Shit, she doesn't even have golden arches

No, she's an entire Amazon River Basin cattle ranch, Idaho potato farm, artesian Coca-Cola well, and American Cyanamid cocktail of lethal additives short of a happy meal.

Re: Shit, she doesn't even have golden arches

Does she at least have a little action figure?

Re: Shit, she doesn't even have golden arches

No action figures. All dolls are patriarchal stereotypes designed to lock children into rigid gender roles. Most dolls are also racist or colonialist. (This is, alas, 80% true.)

Penetration is a phallocentric metaphor for the violation of the integrity of Mother Earth by implanting heavily encultured objects into her sacred ground. Missile silos, skyscrapers, Stonehenge, and cathedrals are all phallocentric objects designed to destroy the natural feminine worldview. So are palm trees.

Re: Shit, she doesn't even have golden arches

Metaquoted for great justice.

Re: Shit, she doesn't even have golden arches

Thanks!

I don't hold reasonable feminists responsible for what crazy feminists say. I hold them responsible for what crazy chess grandmasters say. This isn't any more reasonable than holding them responsible for what crazy feminists say but I hope it's at least a change of pace.

I kind of love this comment rather a lot.

For truly hath it been observed

... that if your coalition doesn't have any people in it who drive you RIGHT UP A WALL, it's not broad enough.

Also, has this been metaquoted yet and if it hasn't may I?

Re: For truly hath it been observed

Don't know but feel free.

Re: For truly hath it been observed

La.

I may have to propose you for the Usual Award. Even though this wasn't onlist.

Re: For truly hath it been observed

Right. Right. I will keep telling myself that...

Re: For truly hath it been observed

If you find your resolve needs shoring, go look at some of her detractors.

That was what it took to call my attention to and thus encourage me to overcome my instinctive desire to distance myself from the crazy lady as fast as I could.

The crazy lady thinks women are full human beings.

I'll go with "reasonable one," personally. I don't define Muslims by the actions of Al Qaeda (however the heck that's spelled), I don't define pro-life activists by the people who shoot doctors and firebomb clinics, and I don't define feminists by people like _allecto_ .

(As a cherry on top of her quadruple banana split of strange viewpoints, she's bothered by "Xander Harris, a pro-porn, sex-obsessed teenage male in Buffy." Maybe I'm biased by experience, but that sounds like every teenage male out there.)

"Xander Harris, a pro-porn, sex-obsessed teenage male in Buffy." Maybe I'm biased by experience, but that sounds like every teenage male out there.)

And quite a few of the female ones as well! Well, the sex obsessed bit anyway!

that sounds like every teenage male out there.

Does Xander have a line to that effect early on in BtVS?

Cordelia: Do guns make you wanna have sex?

Xander: I'm 17, linoleum makes me wanna have sex.

I know. It's infuriating! *writhes in helpless rage*

(but your icon is wonderful!)

Sad but true. & :-( I keep trying to be sane and rely heavily on facts...but this kind of trainwreck, it is more likely to imprint, isn't it?

I know that most feminists are completely reasonable people. It's just that the crazy ones (like in any group) get more attention because...well, they're really loud and really crazy.

Completely OT but I am really really curious as to what your icon means. (I am a Firefly fan, I get the leaf on the wind reference, I just don't get why you hate them.)
