From an Ellen Datlow post on sff.discuss.obituaries

This morning from Susan Casper:

"Sorry to have to report the news that Janet Kagan Died today of acute Chronic
obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). She was on hospice care toward the end,
but ending came fairly quickly. A small memorial service will be held at the
Kagan home, next week. Please don't send flowers. I will let you know If and
where charitable donations are in order."

Damn it. I had always sort of hoped in the back of my mind that she'd write more books. I really liked her writing. Didn't know she was that ill, though.

Same here, on all counts.

I recall seeing on her web site one time that she'd actually finished a new novel -- I think a NaNoWriMo one. But she never seemed to do anything about trying to publish it.

You're not the only one. Seconded on all counts.

Yes, me too. All of that.

Oh no!

I just re-read Mirabile this week; it's one of my current comfort books. I guess I can stop hoping for more; sigh.

I hadn't seen her in a long time, but I remember several enjoyable meetings at East Coast and Worldcons in the late '80s and '90s. A delightful person!

Ginny Carew introduced me to her and Ricky 35 years ago.
I could always call her, and we could always talk.
*sadness*

Oh, blast. She was a wonderful storyteller.

Oh no. She was a good friend of Mike's; they were hilarious together.

She once mailed me a copy of her contract for Uhura's Song so that I could make an informed decision about whether I really wanted to sell a Star Trek novel. Her opinion was that I really, really didn't.

P.

Sad news. I didn't know her, but I enjoyed her work.

Damn! Her books were great, and there weren't enough of them.
